Italian Serie A, French Ligue1 doing fine without Messi, Ronaldo – LaLiga President
According to La Liga President Javier Tebas, the departures of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid and Barcelona had no negative impact on the Spanish league.
He also mentioned that the two superstars had not changed anything in their former leagues, French Ligue 1 and Italian Serie A, respectively.
Ronaldo left Real Madrid for Juventus, while Messi joined Ligue 1 winners PSG, and Tebas told A Bola that while both players were huge, their departures had no negative impact on the league.
He also stated that the trades had no positive impact on Ligue 1 or Serie A.
"[Messi and Ronaldo's departure] had no effect since we did not shrink, but we would have grown faster if they had remained.
"The French league has Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe didn’t grow, Cristiano Ronaldo went to Italy and Italian football [revenue] has not improved, ours did even though we lost them both,” Tebas said.
