U-20 World Cup: Flying Eagles’ Daniel Daga Confident Ahead of Saudi Arabia Clash

U-20 World Cup: Flying Eagles’ Daniel Daga Confident Ahead of Saudi Arabia Clash

Flying Eagles midfielder Daniel Daga has expressed strong optimism ahead of Nigeria’s crucial group stage clash against Saudi Arabia at the ongoing 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.

The seven-time African champions are desperate to bounce back following their opening-day defeat to Norway, where they dominated possession, struck the crossbar twice, but still fell short.

Another loss could spell an early group-stage exit for Aliyu Zubairu’s side — a scenario the young Eagles are keen to avoid.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Daga assured fans of the team’s readiness and belief:

“I’m confident because we lost our game against Norway that we deserved to win. I know Saudi Arabia lost their game too. It’s football, anything can happen, so we are hundred percent prepared and confident to go out there and get the three points.”

Nigeria will take on Saudi Arabia knowing that victory is the only guarantee to keep their World Cup hopes alive.

Opinion

The Flying Eagles may have stumbled against Norway, but their performance showed flashes of quality that can inspire confidence. Daniel Daga’s words are not just youthful optimism — they reflect a hunger and resilience typical of Nigerian football.

Yet, confidence alone won’t be enough. The Eagles must show sharper finishing and tactical discipline against Saudi Arabia if they are to avoid the heartbreak of an early exit.

Still, if there’s anything history has taught us, it’s that Nigeria’s U-20 sides thrive when their backs are against the wall. This could be the moment that sparks their campaign to life. ⚽🇳🇬
