Theo Walcott Hails Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres as “Chaos Creator” Ahead of Champions League Clash

Theo Walcott Hails Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres as “Chaos Creator” Ahead of Champions League Clash

Former Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has heaped praise on striker Viktor Gyokeres, describing him as a player who “creates havoc” and brings a new dimension to Arsenal’s attack.

Speaking ahead of the Gunners’ UEFA Champions League encounter with Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, Walcott highlighted Gyokeres’ ability to influence games beyond just scoring goals — a quality he believes could prove crucial to Arsenal’s European ambitions this season.

Gyokeres, who joined Arsenal from Sporting CP during the summer transfer window, has already scored three goals in all competitions. Yet, Walcott insists his true value lies in how he stretches defences and creates opportunities for others.

“A lot of people spoke about him [Viktor Gyokeres] not scoring a lot of goals,” Walcott told Metro UK.
“But, for me, he is creating havoc, he is creating chances for other people, and he is getting the best out of other players.
“I think it is just that the Premier League is different. I think the Champions League is where Arsenal want to achieve, and he could well be the difference in just occupying defences differently.”

💭 Opinion: Gyokeres Might Just Be Arsenal’s Missing Piece

Theo Walcott’s remarks echo what many Arsenal fans have started to notice — Viktor Gyokeres may not be flashy, but he’s effective. In a team known for fluid attacking play and creative midfielders, Gyokeres’ physical presence and relentless pressing offer a new weapon.

He may not yet be matching the goal tally of an Erling Haaland or a Harry Kane, but his influence goes beyond the scoresheet. His intelligent movement creates space for players like Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard to flourish — and in modern football, that’s just as valuable as scoring.

If Arsenal are serious about conquering Europe this season, they’ll need players who not only finish chances but also create fear and confusion in opposing backlines. Gyokeres seems to be doing exactly that — quietly, efficiently, and with purpose.

Sometimes, it’s not the player with the most goals who defines a team’s success — it’s the one who makes everyone else better. And right now, Viktor Gyokeres is doing just that for Arsenal.
