Delta Governor’s Aide Calls for VDM’s Arrest After Mid-Air Clash With Mr Jollof

Delta Governor’s Aide Calls for VDM’s Arrest After Mid-Air Clash With Mr Jollof

A fresh wave of controversy has hit social media after a heated altercation broke out between online personality VeryDarkMan (VDM) and entertainer Mr Jollof aboard a United Airlines flight on Sunday morning, November 17.

Reacting to the incident, Ossai Ovie Success, a senior aide to the Delta State Governor, publicly called for VDM’s arrest, condemning the confrontation as reckless and unacceptable—especially in the sensitive environment of an aircraft.

In a Facebook post, Ossai expressed strong disapproval of VDM’s conduct:

“I am disappointed in Very Dark Man for acting f**lishly.
Very Dark Man should be arrested for initiating a f
ght inside an aircraft.
This is all wrong.
Mr Jollof was seating on his own when Very Dark Man stood up asking Mr Jollof to come and fght him.
I am disappointed in Very Dark Man.”

He added that his page does not support violence in any form, urging viewers to watch the circulating video and judge for themselves.

A Mid-Air Scuffle That Raises Bigger Questions

While online brawls and celebrity feuds have become commonplace in the Nigerian entertainment space, this incident stands out for one simple reason—it happened inside a commercial aircraft, a highly secured and sensitive environment.

Air travel leaves no room for unnecessary drama. A minor verbal exchange can escalate into disruptions that put other passengers at risk, trigger emergency protocols, or even result in severe legal consequences. This is why Ossai’s call for arrest—though seen by some as harsh—raises an important conversation.

Regardless of who started what, conflict inside an aircraft is never trivial. It is a space governed by international safety regulations, where even unruly behavior can result in blacklisting or federal prosecution.

In that sense, Ossai’s reaction echoes a deeper concern:
Should public figures be held to a higher standard, especially in public spaces where their actions affect others?

Opinion: When Influence Meets Irresponsibility

The incident reflects an unfortunate trend among some influencers—turning personal disputes into public spectacles. Social media fame comes with visibility, and visibility comes with responsibility. When celebrities or influencers lose control in public, it sends the message that chaos is entertainment.

VDM and Mr Jollof are both influential voices with large followings. Their clash, now trending, may provide momentary amusement online, but at its core, it is a reminder that influence without discipline becomes a liability.

As society evolves, we cannot keep normalizing public disorder simply because it is “content.”
There must be a line—especially in places where safety is paramount.

This is not about silencing personalities or policing disagreements; it is about demanding basic maturity, the kind that ensures a simple argument does not endanger uninvolved passengers with no stake in the feud.

Where Do We Go From Here?

As authorities review the situation, the bigger message remains:
Public figures must understand the weight of their actions.
Not every quarrel deserves an audience, and certainly not a mid-air confrontation.

Whether arrests follow or not, this incident should serve as a wake-up call—virality should never come at the cost of public safety or human decency.
