Galatasaray Confident Victor Osimhen Will Return in December — A Timely Boost for Title Battle

Galatasaray Confident Victor Osimhen Will Return in December — A Timely Boost for Title Battle

Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek has assured fans that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is on course to return to action in December, following the injury he sustained while representing the Super Eagles.

Speaking on HT Spor, Özbek revealed that Osimhen’s recovery timeline is expected to last approximately two weeks, ruling him out of upcoming fixtures against Gençlerbirliği in the Turkish Super Lig and Union Saint-Gilloise in the UEFA Champions League.

The club, however, remains optimistic that the 26-year-old will be fully fit for the highly anticipated derby against Fenerbahçe on Monday, December 1, 2026—a match that could shape the title narrative.

“Osimhen will have a recovery period of approximately two weeks. All our efforts are to ensure that he is ready for the Fenerbahçe match. Our doctors are working in that direction,” Özbek stated.

Osimhen’s arrival at Galatasaray has already electrified Turkish football, and his absence has been strongly felt. His pace, aggression, and finishing ability give the Istanbul giants a psychological and tactical edge, especially in big games.

Opinion — Galatasaray Is Playing the Long Game, and It’s Smart

While fans naturally want their star striker back immediately, Galatasaray’s cautious approach shows maturity and ambition. Osimhen is not just another player—he’s a long-term investment, a statement signing, and the heartbeat of the club’s attacking philosophy.

Bringing him back too soon risks aggravating the injury—something Galatasaray cannot afford with the Champions League and domestic title chase still wide open. Prioritizing his return for the Fenerbahçe clash is strategic, both competitively and emotionally. That match isn’t just about points—it’s about pride, dominance, and momentum.

And for Osimhen himself, this recovery window offers something valuable: clarity. A player who thrives on intensity must return when he is capable of playing at full throttle, not just present on the pitch.

If all goes well, his comeback story in December could be the spark Galatasaray needs to push their season into overdrive.

Because one thing is certain—a fully fit Victor Osimhen doesn’t just change games… he changes leagues.
