El-Kanemi Warriors Coach Aliyu Zubairu: "Teams Try to Unsettle Us"
El-Kanemi Warriors technical adviser, Aliyu Zubairu, has revealed that opposing teams in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) often go the extra mile to unsettle his side, recognizing them as a tough opponent.
The Borno Army have had a competitive campaign so far, recording nine wins, eight draws, and six losses. They currently sit in sixth place on the NPFL table with 35 points.
Despite the challenges, Zubairu remains confident in his squad's abilities.
“All the big teams and boys in the league know that anytime they are playing against my team, they know they are meeting a strong side,” Zubairu told the club’s media.
“I will continue to do our best for the game.”
With the season progressing, El-Kanemi Warriors will look to maintain their strong performances and push for a higher position on the table.
Opinion: Are El-Kanemi Warriors the League’s Dark Horse?
Zubairu’s comments highlight an important reality in Nigerian football—teams respect El-Kanemi Warriors, and for good reason. Their current position in the NPFL table shows they are more than capable of competing with the league’s best.
However, the real challenge is maintaining consistency. While they have secured impressive results, they have also struggled with six losses. If they can improve their ability to grind out results against the league’s top teams, they could be a serious contender for a higher finish.
Are the Warriors ready to challenge for the top spots? The coming matches will tell.
