Female Danfo Driver Cries for Help After Assault by Male Passenger

A female danfo driver in Lagos has taken to social media to seek help after being assaulted by a male passenger. The incident occurred when she picked up the man from a location near Oriental Hotel, with the passenger claiming he was heading to the law school.

According to the driver, while en route, she noticed through the rearview mirror that the man was attempting to steal the bus battery. Upon realizing this, she confronted him, only for the passenger to violently assault her.

In a heartfelt social media post, the driver recounted the ordeal, saying:

“I picked this boy up from under the bridge near Oriental Hotel, and he said he was going to LASU. While I was watching him in the mirror, I saw him trying to steal my battery.”

“I got down to confront him, and he started beating me. Look at my face, look at my clothes—he stripped me. Is this how he should have treated me?”

Social Media Reactions

The post quickly gained traction online, with many showing support for the woman. Reactions ranged from humor to outrage, as people expressed their disbelief at the man's actions and sympathized with the driver. Some responses included:

  • Anuoluwapo humorously commented: “Wait, where did this woman hold that guy?”

  • Homage joked: “John Thomas don suffer for this country oo.”

  • jummyk87 applauded the woman’s bravery, writing: “Sisterhood and motherhood are proud of you, don’t leave him o. Hold that his preek well sister.”

  • Beersheba quipped: “Congratulations, you just found your husband; what the Lord has joined together, let no man put asunder.”

However, some individuals expressed doubt, questioning the driver’s version of the events. 𝓑𝓡𝓨𝓐𝓝🪐😁 pointed out: “Do you know this lady could actually be lying even while she’s giving all these reactions?”

An Act of Courage or A Call for Justice?

While the incident has sparked debate on social media, it raises important questions about safety, respect, and gender dynamics in public transportation. This female driver not only had to deal with the shock of an attempted theft but also with physical assault for confronting the passenger.

In a city like Lagos, where public transport is a daily lifeline for millions, cases like these bring to the forefront the vulnerability of individuals who face all kinds of risks on the road. While humor and banter are common in online spaces, it’s crucial to not lose sight of the serious nature of such incidents.

What are your thoughts on this situation? Is this another example of disrespect toward women, or are there other angles to the story we should consider?
