Super Falcons vs Indomitable Lionesses Clash Postponed Over Late Arrival of Cameroon Squad
The much-anticipated international friendly between Nigeria’s Super Falcons and the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon has been postponed, TalkTalk Nigeria reports.
Originally set for today at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, the first leg of the double-header will now be played on Monday at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta.
⚠️ Why the Sudden Change?
The postponement was reportedly due to logistical hiccups and the late arrival of the Cameroonian team, who are expected to touch down in Nigeria later today. Surprisingly, Cameroon’s head coach Jean Baptiste Bisseck only unveiled his squad on Friday, raising questions about the team's preparedness and planning.
"These kinds of delays are unfortunate and cast a shadow on international friendlies meant to build unity and competition in African women’s football," a fan tweeted.
🗣️ Opinion: African Women’s Football Deserves Better
While fans were eagerly awaiting this faceoff between two of Africa’s finest women’s teams, the rescheduling reveals deeper issues in how women's football is often handled — especially on the continent.
Such last-minute arrangements wouldn’t fly in top-tier men’s football. Why should it be different for the women? The talent, dedication, and passion are just as powerful — and deserve the same level of professionalism and respect.
