TalkTalk Nigeria reports that NPFL Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye announced Friday, August 22, 2025, as the kick-off date for the 2025/26 season. The declaration was made during a media interaction in Abuja, where Elegbeleye also revealed plans to align the NPFL calendar with other top global football leagues.
“We’re working hard to streamline our schedule with international football calendars,” Elegbeleye said, “This will benefit our clubs on the continental stage and increase our league’s global visibility.”
The NPFL board is expected to release fixtures and player registration guidelines in the coming weeks — a crucial step toward a smoother, more organized campaign.
