Galatasaray Vice President Sends Ultimatum as Osimhen Stalls on Transfer Decision
Galatasaray vice-president, Abdullah Kavukcu, has expressed growing frustration over Victor Osimhen’s delay in responding to the club’s lucrative contract offer, warning that time is running out.
Osimhen, who enjoyed a sensational loan spell with the Turkish giants in the 2024/25 season, was instrumental in their domestic double triumph—scoring 37 goals and contributing eight assists in 41 appearances. The Nigerian striker became a fan favorite almost overnight and is widely seen as the missing piece in Galatasaray’s European ambitions.
Despite submitting what Kavukcu claims is a financial package “higher than those proposed in Europe”, the club is yet to receive a definitive answer from Osimhen’s camp.
“He’s making us wait but time is running out,” said Kavukcu. “We’ve offered him figures higher than those proposed in Europe.”
The 26-year-old has also turned down offers from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, signaling a preference to remain in top-flight European football. However, the uncertainty around his next destination continues to keep Galatasaray and other suitors on edge.
✍🏽 Opinion — Osimhen’s Dilemma: Prestige or Payday?
Victor Osimhen’s hesitation is understandable. At this stage in his career, every decision shapes his legacy. While Galatasaray’s offer is generous—and loyalty to a club where he flourished has its merit—there are whispers of interest from top-tier European clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester United. A player of Osimhen’s caliber may be holding out for a Champions League-contending club in one of the top five leagues.
However, time waits for no one in football. Galatasaray’s warning is not just about contracts—it's about planning their squad ahead of the new season. If Osimhen continues to stall, he risks losing both the money and the momentum.
💭 Should Osimhen stay where he’s adored and become a legend at Galatasaray, or chase the bigger spotlight in England or Spain?
