Liverpool Eye Isak, Keep Ekitike as Plan B Amid Transfer Drama | Kolo Touré Joins Man City Staff

Liverpool Eye Isak, Keep Ekitike as Plan B Amid Transfer Drama | Kolo Touré Joins Man City Staff

Liverpool’s summer transfer window is heating up fast — and the Reds are aiming high.

According to reliable transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have made a club-to-club approach to Newcastle United for their sensational Swedish striker, Alexander Isak, in what could become a record-breaking bid for the Anfield side.

However, there's a catch — Newcastle are reluctant to sell. The Magpies have reportedly offered Isak a new deal and remain firm on keeping their star man. The ball is now firmly in Newcastle’s court.

💬 “Liverpool can enter the race… only if Newcastle close the doors to Alexander Isak exit,” Romano shared via his X handle.

But Liverpool aren’t putting all their eggs in one basket. If Newcastle stay unmoved, the Reds are ready to shift focus to French striker Hugo Ekitike, currently at Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt. Interestingly, Newcastle themselves are also pushing hard for Ekitike, having submitted an official bid close to €80 million earlier this week. Yet, Frankfurt are holding out for a higher price.

It’s a triangle of top clubs circling two red-hot forwards — and fans can expect some dramatic turns in the coming days.

🔍 Opinion Corner: Klopp’s Final Touch or Future Foundation?
Liverpool’s interest in both Isak and Ekitike signals more than just ambition — it signals a plan. Isak is already Premier League-proven and could offer that blend of pace, finesse, and versatility that Liverpool’s frontline needs. On the other hand, Ekitike presents a raw, youthful promise that fits the Reds’ long-term rebuild strategy.

This might be Klopp’s last big project — or the first bold step in a new Anfield era. Either way, fans should be excited.

Meanwhile, across the Premier League divide, Manchester City have confirmed the permanent appointment of Kolo Touré to Pep Guardiola’s first-team coaching staff. Romano had hinted at this move back in May 2025, and the former Arsenal and Liverpool defender put pen to paper today.

Kolo returns to Manchester with experience, character, and a winning pedigree — a perfect fit for Guardiola’s demanding system.

📣 What do you think, Reds fans? Is Isak worth breaking the bank for — or should we invest in a rising star like Ekitike?
