ABS Coach Ogundeji Praises Team Spirit Despite 2–0 Defeat to Lobi Stars

ABS Coach Ogundeji Praises Team Spirit Despite 2–0 Defeat to Lobi Stars

Head coach Ogundeji Joel has praised the performance of his Abubakar Bukola Saraki F.C. players despite their 2–0 defeat to Lobi Stars F.C. in a Matchday 11 clash on Saturday.

The encounter, played in Makurdi, saw Lobi Stars secure victory thanks to goals from Onah Peter and veteran striker Barnabas Imenger.

Despite the result, Ogundeji expressed satisfaction with the effort and determination shown by his team throughout the match. Speaking after the game, the coach insisted the scoreline did not fully reflect the intensity and commitment displayed by his players.

“I am satisfied with my players’ performance. They showed great determination, discipline and team spirit throughout the game,” Ogundeji said.

“The result does not truly reflect our effort on the pitch. It was a bit of hard luck for us, but I am proud of the mentality the players showed.”

The Ilorin-based side fought hard but struggled to convert their chances, allowing the hosts to capitalize on key moments and secure all three points.

Opinion: Performance Positives Could Help ABS Bounce Back

While defeat is always disappointing, especially in a competitive league campaign, Ogundeji’s reaction suggests there were encouraging signs in the team’s performance.

Football matches are often decided by fine margins, and sometimes the scoreline does not fully capture the balance of play. If ABS can maintain the discipline and team spirit their coach highlighted, they may still turn strong performances into results in upcoming fixtures.

For developing teams in particular, consistency in attitude and structure is often the foundation for future success. If the Ilorin club builds on the positives from this match and improves their finishing, results could soon begin to reflect the effort on the pitch. ⚽
