Campos FC Coach Gaptus Chibueze Backs Team to Shine in President Federation Cup Final
Campos FC head coach Gaptus Chibueze has expressed strong confidence in his team’s readiness ahead of the 2026 President Federation Cup final.
The Owerri-based side secured their place in the final after a hard-fought victory over Nigeria National League outfit Heartland FC, a result that has boosted belief within the squad.
Speaking after the win, Chibueze highlighted both the physical and mental preparedness of his players, insisting they are capable of competing at the highest level.
“Everything is possible with my boys. We are physically and psychologically ready for the competition,” he said. “We are not scared of any opponents as we have done it against Heartland and we can do it again.”
The coach also revealed that Campos FC are drawing inspiration from Abakaliki FC, who made a remarkable run to the final of the competition last year.
“We want to replicate what Abakaliki FC did in the tournament last year,” he added.
Campos FC will now look to complete their fairytale journey by lifting the trophy, having already defied expectations to reach the final.
Opinion: Underdog Spirit Could Be Campos FC’s Biggest Weapon
Gaptus Chibueze’s confidence is not just talk—it reflects the mentality often seen in teams that go on to achieve unexpected success in knockout competitions.
Campos FC’s victory over Heartland FC proves they are capable of upsetting more established sides. In tournaments like the President Federation Cup, momentum and belief can sometimes outweigh experience and reputation.
However, reaching the final is one challenge—winning it is another entirely. The pressure, the stage, and the expectations all increase significantly.
Their desire to emulate Abakaliki FC’s run shows ambition, but it also serves as a reminder that fairytale journeys do not always end with trophies.
Still, if Campos FC can maintain their fearless approach and tactical discipline, they have a genuine chance to make history.
In football, underdogs rarely get second chances—but when they do, they often make it count.
