Silvestre Advises Martinelli Could Consider Arsenal Exit If Title Is Secured

Silvestre Advises Martinelli Could Consider Arsenal Exit If Title Is Secured

Arsenal FC forward Gabriel Martinelli has been advised to consider a possible summer departure if the Gunners go on to win the Premier League title this season, according to former defender Mikael Silvestre.

Arsenal are currently in a strong position to lift the league trophy, needing just two more victories against Burnley FC and Crystal Palace to secure the championship.

Speaking to Betpack via Metro UK, Silvestre suggested that Martinelli could become frustrated with limited game time, especially with competition from players like Leandro Trossard.

“Gabriel Martinelli might be the Arsenal player who wants to trigger a transfer because of game-time,” Silvestre said.

“He wants to play and Leandro Trossard gets more game time than him. Leaving Arsenal after winning the Premier League would be good timing for him, maybe a good decision, but he needs to find the right place to go.”

Martinelli has been an important figure in Mikel Arteta’s squad, but the intense competition in Arsenal’s attacking positions has often led to rotation decisions that leave some players on the bench in key matches.

Opinion

Silvestre’s suggestion highlights one of the toughest realities in elite football: success often creates even more competition within a squad. If Arsenal finally win the Premier League, the pressure to maintain a winning team will likely increase, not reduce.

However, advising Martinelli to leave may be premature. Modern title-winning squads depend heavily on depth, and players like him often play crucial roles across a long season. Even when not starting every game, his impact has been significant in key moments.

If Arsenal do secure the title, the real challenge for Arteta will not just be celebrating success, but managing ambition within the squad. Keeping players motivated, valued, and convinced of their role may matter just as much as winning the trophy itself.
