Troost-Ekong Tips Ghana to Secure Draw Against England in World Cup Clash

Troost-Ekong Tips Ghana to Secure Draw Against England in World Cup Clash

Former Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong believes Ghana have the quality to hold England to a draw when both teams meet in their FIFA World Cup 2026 Group L encounter.

The Black Stars will face Thomas Tuchel’s England side at Foxborough on Tuesday night in what is expected to be one of the group’s biggest fixtures.

Ghana began their World Cup campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over Panama, while England made a strong start by defeating Croatia 4-2 and currently sit top of the group on goal difference.

Despite England’s impressive opening performance and squad depth, Troost-Ekong believes Ghana’s strength and competitiveness could help them get a positive result.

“So if I was predicting that game, I’m probably going to say a draw because I could see both teams score,” he told ESPN.

Opinion: Troost-Ekong’s prediction shows the growing respect African teams are earning on the world stage. Ghana have a history of producing strong World Cup performances, and their ability to compete physically and tactically against top nations has often made them difficult opponents.

However, England will enter the match with confidence after their attacking display in the opening game. For Ghana, the key will be discipline, defensive organisation, and taking their chances when opportunities arrive. A point against one of the tournament favourites would be a major statement of intent for the Black Stars.
