Osimhen’s Warrior Spirit Inspires Me, Says Midtjylland Striker Stanley Iheanacho

Nigerian youngster Stanley Iheanacho has revealed that Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen remains the biggest inspiration behind his football journey, describing the Galatasaray striker's resilience, hunger, and determination as qualities he hopes to emulate.

The FC Midtjylland forward made the admission after returning to the Danish club ahead of the 2026/27 season following a productive spell with CD Mafra in Portugal. Iheanacho has enjoyed an impressive pre-season, scoring in friendlies against Lillestrøm, Malmö and Silkeborg to strengthen his case for a regular place in the first team.

Speaking to Midtjylland’s official media, the striker praised Osimhen not only for his goalscoring exploits but also for the difficult path he travelled to become one of Africa’s most feared forwards.

"Victor Osimhen is an incredible individual, a fighter who has overcome poverty. His warrior mentality is truly motivating, and he gives everything whenever he plays. I see many qualities in him that resonate with me," Iheanacho said.

The young forward also disclosed that he regularly studies Osimhen’s matches and interviews, hoping to improve his own game while nurturing a dream of one day wearing the Super Eagles shirt alongside his idol.

After netting 14 goals during his stint with CD Mafra, Iheanacho has returned to Denmark full of confidence and appears determined to build on his impressive form as Midtjylland prepare for the new campaign.
