"They wanted blood" - J. Cole on why he avoided controversy with Kendrick Lamar.
J. Cole, an American rapper, has explained why he deleted his diss track aimed at his colleague Kendrick Lamar.
According to TalkTalk Nigeria, J. Cole responded to Lamar on '7 Minute Drill,' stating "he fell off like the Simpsons" after he dissed Cole and Drake on Future and Metro Boomin's song 'Like That,' which featured him.
Surprisingly, J. Cole halted his show at the 2024 Dreamville Festival in North Carolina in April to apologize to Lamar.
Cole claimed in his current track, 'Port Antonio', that individuals promoting the dispute wanted "blood" and exposure to benefit from it.
He added that if he had gone along with the beef, it would have caused animosity between him and Lamar.
He raps, "I pulled the plug because I realized where that was going; they wanted blood, clicks to fill their pockets.
"They see the fire in my enclosure and assume I'm dogging smoke. I wouldn't have lost the war, dog; I would've lost a brother and acquired an adversary, all for what?"
