“No More Friday Giveaways!” – Teni Explains Why She Stopped Dashing Out Money on Fridays 😅💸

“No More Friday Giveaways!” – Teni Explains Why She Stopped Dashing Out Money on Fridays 😅💸

Nigerian singer Teniola Apata, popularly known as Teni, has shared the hilarious reason behind her decision to stop giving out money to fans on Fridays.

In a viral video making the rounds online, the “Uyo Meyo” crooner said she discovered that many people who beg for money on Fridays don’t actually use it for meaningful things — instead, they spend it on pepper soup and enjoyment.

Speaking in her signature playful tone and Pidgin English, Teni said:

“Me I no dey give anybody money on Friday. No, no, no. If you give person money on Friday, them go use your money go chop pepper soup ooh.”

She went on to share a funny personal experience where she gave someone money, only to later find out the person spent it on catfish pepper soup instead of using it for the “business” they claimed to need funds for.

Her confession sparked laughter and mixed reactions online.
One user joked:

“You fit give person money for Monday make e keep am till Friday and still use am chop pepper soup 😂🤣.”

Another user, Chiamaka, offered a more serious take, saying:

“Humans are always going to feel entitled to your money. That’s why many people stop helping — once you show a little kindness, it turns to entitlement.”

💭 Opinion: Teni’s Lesson Is Funny — But Real

Teni might have said it in jest, but there’s a deeper truth in her words — a reflection of how entitlement and irresponsibility have made many people wary of helping others.

In today’s world, people often approach celebrities and even friends for financial help with convincing stories — “I just need small capital for business” — only to divert the funds to temporary pleasures like food, drinks, or fashion.

Teni’s decision may sound funny, but it highlights a real issue: gratitude and accountability are fading. When people misuse kindness, they make it harder for others who genuinely need help to be trusted or supported.

And while generosity remains a virtue, wisdom must walk hand-in-hand with giving. Sometimes, saying “no” isn’t stinginess — it’s self-preservation.

So maybe Teni is right — if your “Friday blessing” always ends up in a bowl of pepper soup, perhaps it’s time to rethink what help truly means. 🍲💭
