Rita Edochie Slams Yinka Theisen Over Comments on May Edochie: “Jealousy Is Driving You Crazy”
Nollywood veteran actress Rita Edochie has taken a public swipe at Yinka Theisen, the ex-fiancée of her brother-in-law, Linc Edochie, over her recent remarks about May Edochie, the estranged wife of actor Yul Edochie.
Yinka had earlier sparked controversy online after shading May Edochie and her fanbase, known as “May Nation.” In her post, she claimed that if May had been a “good woman,” her husband, Yul, would not have been “snatched” by another woman — referring to Yul’s marriage to actress Judy Austin.
The comment didn’t sit well with Rita Edochie, who has long been a vocal supporter of May amid her marital saga with Yul. Taking to Instagram, Rita mocked Yinka’s marital history, reminding her of her two failed marriages, while accusing her of jealousy and bitterness toward May.
“Queen May Yul Edochie’s achievements dey drive Yinka mad. If you were good, how come you had two failed marriages?” Rita wrote in a fiery post.
“You dare ask Queen May if she was good, how come her husband was snatched? Queen May left on her own because she has integrity — unlike you that’s too desperate.”
Rita went further to claim she had previously warned the Edochie family about Yinka’s alleged intentions, adding that jealousy was behind Yinka’s continued attacks on May.
“All I see in your outburst is jealousy. You can never match May Yul Edochie’s achievements — not even her toe!” she added.
Her post quickly gained attention, drawing mixed reactions from fans. While some praised Rita for defending May, others felt she took things too far by making personal comments about Yinka’s past relationships.
💭 Opinion: When Family Feuds Go Public — The Cost of Online Wars in Nollywood
The Edochie family drama continues to unfold like a Nollywood movie, and while it keeps social media buzzing, it also highlights a deeper issue — the blurring line between private conflict and public entertainment.
Rita Edochie’s loyalty to May is admirable; she has consistently stood by her “niece-in-law” through thick and thin. However, when family disputes and personal insults spill onto social media, they often do more harm than good. Public ridicule, no matter how justified it feels, can easily escalate tension and feed a cycle of endless online drama.
Yinka’s comments about May were clearly provocative, but Rita’s fiery response shows just how personal these battles have become. At this point, what once was a private family issue has turned into a full-blown social media war — and fans are the spectators cheering from the sidelines.
Perhaps it’s time for everyone involved to pause and choose peace over pettiness. After all, no amount of online “clapbacks” can rebuild dignity once it’s lost to the crowd.
Because in the end, silence often speaks louder than a thousand Instagram posts.
