“Life Is Too Short for Tension”: Seyi Shay Opens Up on Possible Reconciliation with Tiwa Savage

“Life Is Too Short for Tension”: Seyi Shay Opens Up on Possible Reconciliation with Tiwa Savage

Nigerian singer Seyi Shay has expressed her willingness to reconcile with fellow star Tiwa Savage, years after their infamous fallout that once dominated headlines and divided fans.

In an interview with Saturday Punch, the Right Now crooner said she holds no grudge against Tiwa Savage and is open to having a private or public conversation to clear the air.

Seyi explained that the misunderstanding, which many believed began after a Pepsi campaign years ago, was purely a brand decision and not a personal act of rivalry. She stressed that she has always respected Tiwa’s journey and achievements in the industry.

“That period was purely a brand decision, not a personal one. I have never had any reason to celebrate another woman’s challenge or misfortune,” she said.

“I respect Tiwa’s journey deeply. She’s an incredible artist and a trailblazer. There’s no bad blood on my end—only respect and acknowledgment of her contribution to the industry.”

The singer admitted that both artists were under immense pressure in a competitive music space, and emotions ran high at the time, leading to misunderstandings. With maturity and reflection, Seyi said she now sees that communication would have been a better option than confrontation.

“If I could go back, I would choose communication over confrontation,” she added. “Life is too short for lingering tension. If having that conversation helps heal narratives and sets a better example for women in music, I’m open to it.”

The rift between the two divas dates back to 2021, when a video of their heated exchange at a Lagos salon went viral, sparking widespread discussions about rivalry among female artists in Nigeria.

💭 Opinion: A Lesson in Grace and Growth for Women in Entertainment

Seyi Shay’s openness to reconciliation reflects a rare level of maturity and emotional intelligence that is often missing in the entertainment industry. In a world where public feuds and “clapbacks” dominate social media, her willingness to extend an olive branch is a refreshing reminder that strength also lies in forgiveness.

Beyond the glitz and glam, the Nigerian music scene is incredibly competitive—especially for women who constantly face comparison, scrutiny, and pressure to prove themselves. Both Seyi and Tiwa have carved their names in the industry through resilience and hard work, and seeing them move past old wounds could send a powerful message of unity to upcoming female artists.

If this reconciliation truly happens, it won’t just be a personal win for both women — it’ll be a symbolic victory for the Nigerian music industry, proving that collaboration and respect will always outshine rivalry.
