Ossai Success Criticises Peller and Jarvis’ Wedding, Calls It ‘Overrated and Overhyped’
Former Delta State Governor's media aide, Ossai Success Ovie, has shared his candid assessment of the much-talked-about wedding of popular TikTok couple Peller and Jarvis, describing the ceremony as "overrated and overhyped."
In a post on his Instagram page, Ossai said he had high expectations for the event because of the massive publicity surrounding it but was ultimately left disappointed by what he saw online.
Although he revealed that he received an invitation to the wedding, he explained that he was unable to attend due to other commitments.
According to him, the event failed to live up to the grand image that had been projected in the weeks leading up to the ceremony.
"The Peller and Jarvis wedding was overrated and over hyped.
I've been following up on the Peller and Jarvis wedding, and I must confess, I am disappointed.
Though I was invited but couldn't make it due to other engagements, the wedding didn't meet my expectations.
There was too much noise ahead of the wedding, and after getting my invitation, I was hoping it would be a classic. But my hope was dashed."
Ossai further criticised the wedding's décor, organisation and atmosphere, saying it looked like an ordinary influencer event rather than the spectacular celebration many had anticipated.
He also alleged that reports of crowd control issues, delayed arrivals and logistical challenges reflected poor planning for an event that generated so much public attention.
According to him, the extensive pre-wedding publicity focused more on branding, online engagement and publicity stunts than on the essence of marriage.
"A wedding should be about love, family, and covenant first. When you over-commercialise it, the heart of it gets lost, and all people remember is the hype."
Despite his criticism, Ossai wished the newlyweds well, expressing hope that they would focus on building a successful marriage rather than merely sustaining their online popularity.
The social commentator has become known for regularly weighing in on celebrity affairs and trending topics. In recent months, he has criticised singer Davido over his absence at Soso Soberekon's wedding and also commented on the public exchange involving broadcaster Frank Edoho and his former wife.
Opinion
Ossai Success' remarks reflect a growing conversation about the impact of social media on modern weddings. As influencer culture continues to grow, many ceremonies are now designed not only for family and friends but also for millions of online viewers.
While some people see lavish publicity and content creation as part of today's entertainment landscape, others believe excessive hype can create expectations that are almost impossible to meet. Ultimately, the success of a marriage cannot be measured by the grandeur of the wedding day or the number of viral videos it generates.
Whether Peller and Jarvis' wedding lived up to expectations is largely a matter of personal opinion. What will matter most in the years ahead is not how spectacular the celebration appeared online, but how strong and enduring their marriage becomes away from the cameras.
