Jubilation as Ooni of Ife Welcomes Baby Girl with Olori Oluwatosin

Jubilation as Ooni of Ife Welcomes Baby Girl with Olori Oluwatosin

Congratulations have continued to pour in for the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, after the revered monarch announced the birth of a baby girl with his wife, Olori Oluwatosin.

The traditional ruler shared the joyful news on his Instagram page, expressing gratitude to God for the safe delivery of the newest addition to the royal family.

In his message, the Ooni thanked God for His grace and celebrated the arrival of the newborn princess.

"To God Almighty be all the glory for His unfailing grace and the precious gift of new life.

Hearty congratulations to the entire House of Oduduwa for the blessed arrival of a Royal Princess through Olori Oluwatosin.

May the Almighty preserve this divine gift and cause her to flourish in wisdom, grace, and honour.

We are pleased to share that both Olori Oluwatosin and the Royal Princess are in excellent health."

The announcement has been met with excitement from well-wishers, royal associates and admirers of the monarch, many of whom have flooded social media with congratulatory messages.

The birth comes just months after the Ooni welcomed twin boys with his first wife, Olori Mariam, further expanding the royal household.

In recent years, the monarch has built a large family following his marriage to several queens after the end of his union with Olori Naomi. Since then, he has welcomed children with different wives, including twins with Olori Tobi Phillips, a son with Olori Ashley, another set of twins with Olori Mariam, and now a baby girl with Olori Oluwatosin.

The Ooni has previously explained that his decision to marry multiple wives was influenced by the cultural traditions and royal heritage attached to the throne of Ile-Ife, noting that he embraced responsibilities that come with the revered position despite earlier personal reservations.

The latest addition further strengthens the royal lineage of the House of Oduduwa, with prayers and goodwill continuing to pour in for the newborn princess and her mother.

Opinion

The birth of another royal child is a moment of celebration not only for the Ooni's family but also for many who regard the throne of Ile-Ife as a symbol of Yoruba history and tradition. Royal births often carry cultural significance, representing continuity and the preservation of a centuries-old heritage.

At the same time, the Ooni's family life continues to attract public attention because it blends ancient customs with modern public scrutiny. While opinions remain divided over polygamy and the institution of traditional monarchy, milestones like the birth of a royal child remind many Nigerians of the enduring place traditional rulers still occupy in the country's cultural and social landscape.

As congratulatory messages continue to pour in, the focus remains on celebrating the healthy arrival of the royal princess and wishing both mother and child a joyful and prosperous future.
