Baba Ijesha’s Wife Thanks Ooni of Ife for Royal Honour, Calls Him ‘A Good Father-in-Law’

Baba Ijesha’s Wife Thanks Ooni of Ife for Royal Honour, Calls Him ‘A Good Father-in-Law’

Afolashade Omiyinka, popularly known as Luminee and wife of Nollywood actor Baba Ijesha, has publicly expressed gratitude to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, following the royal reception the couple received during their recent visit to the monarch's palace.

The visit attracted widespread attention after the Ooni honoured the couple with a warm reception, a chieftaincy title and a brand-new car, gestures that have continued to spark conversations on social media.

Taking to Instagram, Luminee described the monarch's hospitality as exceptional, thanking him for his fatherly love, wisdom and generosity.

She wrote that their family remains deeply grateful for the royal blessings, adding that the monarch's support means a great deal to them.

In an emotional part of her message, Luminee referred to the Ooni as "a good father-in-law" and said their newborn son, King Kagar Omiyinka, also appreciated the royal father.

"Your Imperial Majesty, thank you so much for the gracious reception and royal blessings. Your wisdom, generosity and continuous support mean the world to our family.

"We are profoundly humbled by your exceptional warmth, fatherly love and generous hospitality. Thank you for being a good father-in-law.

"Your grandson, King Kagar Omiyinka, says thank you, Papa. I pray Almighty God continues to grant you good health and long life to sit on the throne of your fathers. Kabiyesi o! The crown is permanent."

Before the palace visit, Baba Ijesha had reflected on what he described as a new chapter in his life, revealing that it was the first time he had travelled with his family. He expressed gratitude for what he called a second chance and pledged not to take it for granted.

The actor and Luminee recently welcomed their first child together, a baby boy named King Kagar Omiyinka. Sharing the news weeks ago, Baba Ijesha said life had blessed him with more than he prayed for, while Luminee described him as "one in a million" and praised his character.

Their latest public appearance comes amid continued public debate surrounding the actor's return to the spotlight following his previous conviction and imprisonment. While some Nigerians have questioned the growing public celebration around him, others believe he deserves an opportunity to rebuild his life after serving his sentence.

Opinion

The Ooni's reception of Baba Ijesha and his family has generated mixed reactions, reflecting a broader conversation about forgiveness, accountability and reintegration into society. For supporters, the royal honour symbolizes grace, restoration and the belief that individuals can rebuild their lives after paying their debt to society. Critics, however, argue that public honours should be handled carefully, especially in cases involving serious criminal convictions, as they may be viewed as insensitive to victims.

Regardless of where opinions lie, the differing reactions highlight how difficult it can be to balance compassion, justice and public perception when high-profile figures attempt to move forward after serving their sentences.
