Baba Ijesha Welcomes Baby Boy With Wife Amid Social Media Debate Over Actor’s Past

Baba Ijesha Welcomes Baby Boy With Wife Amid Social Media Debate Over Actor’s Past

Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, and his wife, Anjy Luminee, have welcomed a baby boy, a joyful development that has attracted both celebration and controversy online.

The couple announced the arrival of their son on Tuesday, receiving congratulatory messages from colleagues, fans and well-wishers across social media. Many entertainment personalities celebrated the new chapter in the actor’s life, describing the birth as a blessing for the family.

However, the announcement quickly reopened conversations surrounding Baba Ijesha’s previous legal battle, with some social media users questioning whether public figures should openly celebrate the actor given his past conviction.

Among those who congratulated the couple was controversial social media personality Bobrisky, whose message sparked criticism from some users. Actress Moyo Lawal also faced backlash after sharing her goodwill message, with critics questioning her decision to support the family.

Others, however, defended the celebrities, arguing that congratulating the arrival of a child should not automatically be interpreted as ignoring or supporting past controversies.

Reality TV star Angel Smith questioned why Anjy Luminee chose to remain married to Baba Ijesha despite the legal issues surrounding him, while commentator Daniel Regha also shared his opinion, suggesting that the marriage should have ended after the actor’s sentencing.

Despite the divided reactions, several entertainers continued to show support for the couple. Actor Yomi Fabiyi congratulated the family, while actress Olayinka Solomon and other supporters joined in celebrating the newborn.

The debate highlights a wider conversation about whether society should separate an individual’s personal milestones from their past actions and controversies. While some believe people deserve opportunities for change and private happiness, others argue that serious allegations and convictions should continue to influence public perception.

Baba Ijesha was convicted by a Lagos State High Court in 2022 over the sexual assault of a minor and sentenced to 16 years imprisonment. However, the conviction was later overturned by the Court of Appeal, leading to his release from prison in November 2025.

As the couple celebrates the arrival of their child, public reactions remain divided — with some choosing to focus on the joy of a new life, while others continue to demand accountability and sensitivity around the actor’s history.
