Seyi Vibez is dominating Spotify Nigeria's Daily Top Songs chart following the release of SWAGUU, his album executive produced by Burna Boy. Its songs are crowding the chart.

We wrote about this album last week

On 22 September this site noted that SWAGUU ran fourteen tracks with exactly one guest, and that the artist was betting on carrying the project himself. That made it easier to listen to and harder to sell, we said. The chart suggests the first half of that was right and the second half was too cautious.

A street audience streaming an entire album, not just its singles.

Why album-wide streaming matters. When one song charts, it is a hit. When several songs from the same record chart at once, listeners are playing the album from start to finish. That is the behaviour labels want and rarely get in a singles-driven market, and it is the clearest sign that Seyi Vibez's audience is loyal rather than casual.

Seyi Vibez did not borrow anyone's audience for this album. He brought his own, and it turned up.

The next test

Domestic charts are his home ground. The question we raised last week still stands: whether SWAGUU travels beyond Nigeria. Quavo and Burna Boy's name were the tools for that. The next few weeks of international streaming will show whether they worked.
