Nathaniel Bassey Shares How Divine Guidance Led Him to His Wife, Inspiring Christians Nationwide
Popular Nigerian gospel singer and minister, Pastor Nathaniel Bassey, has opened up about how faith and divine guidance played a central role in his marriage, sharing a testimony that has since gone viral among Christians across Nigeria.
Speaking during a recent message, Bassey recounted how his wife received confirmation from God before they tied the knot. His wife had participated in a month-long fast at her church under the theme “Two Is Better Than One”, seeking clarity on her future husband.
“During that fast, she felt a strong conviction that he was her husband but prayed for a clear confirmation,” Bassey explained.
The moment of divine confirmation came unexpectedly during a scripture reading. While reading Isaiah 64, the officiating pastor mistakenly said:
“And Jesus saw Nathaniel standing under the fig tree.”
Startled by the slip, the pastor repeated the verse—only to make the same mistake again.
“That was the confirmation she needed,” Bassey said. “That’s how we married—by the voice of God.”
He went on to encourage believers to trust in God’s guidance in all aspects of life, quoting Psalm 119:105: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.”
