Ertem Şener Blasts Osimhen’s Display in Derby Draw — But Should Fans Be Worried?
Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen was on the receiving end of fierce criticism after Galatasaray’s tense 1–1 draw with Fenerbahçe in the Turkish Süper Lig.
Popular Turkish football commentator Ertem Şener, speaking on his YouTube channel, expressed disappointment in the Super Eagles star’s performance, insisting the striker struggled to keep possession throughout the game.
“Osimhen played his worst match since his arrival,” Şener said as quoted by Habersarikirmizi.
“He kept losing the ball. Osimhen was very bad.”
Despite a fiery atmosphere and high expectations, Galatasaray could only earn a point, thanks to goals from Leroy Sané and Jhon Durán helping both sides share the spoils.
Opinion: One Bad Night Doesn’t Define Osimhen
Osimhen arrived in Turkey as a marquee signing, a proven goalscorer and Serie A champion with Napoli. It’s no surprise that every touch he takes is being closely examined — especially in derby clashes where emotions run high.
But strikers are humans, not robots. They have off days. And if anything, this performance might be the spark Osimhen needs to bounce back stronger. We’ve seen how he responds to criticism in the past — with goals, passion, and fight.
Friday’s clash against Samsunspor offers the perfect opportunity for redemption. A goal, a win, and suddenly this “worst performance” will just be a footnote in what could still become a glorious season for him and Galatasaray.
Football has a short memory — and Osimhen knows how to make the next chapter unforgettable.
