Ertem Şener Calls for Mentorship for Osimhen Amid Fitness Concerns

Ertem Şener Calls for Mentorship for Osimhen Amid Fitness Concerns

Renowned Turkish football commentator Ertem Şener has weighed in on discussions surrounding the fitness and mental well-being of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, emphasizing that the Super Eagles star could benefit from a mentor to help him maintain balance and composure in his career.

Şener, speaking on Turkish outlet Habersarikirmizi, revealed that he had spoken directly with Galatasaray’s management about Osimhen’s condition amid swirling rumors regarding his health.

“World-renowned managers find mentors to help their star players relax. Victor Osimhen needs something like this,” Şener said.
“Osimhen is five shirts better than En-Nesyri. En-Nesyri is currently wearing Osimhen’s mask. Fenerbahçe fans would say the same thing.”

The commentator further disclosed that Galatasaray officials assured him that Osimhen is perfectly healthy, stating that all his medical tests returned clear.

“I spoke with Galatasaray management about Osimhen’s health. They said, ‘There’s nothing wrong. You see how he plays and fights on the field. His tests, everything is clean.’ The declaration is essential,” Şener added.

Osimhen, who currently plies his trade with Napoli, has been in the spotlight not only for his football brilliance but also for his fiery personality and emotional on-field expressions. He is presently in camp with the Super Eagles of Nigeria as they prepare for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic.

Opinion: Why Osimhen’s Mental Strength Matters as Much as His Goals

Victor Osimhen is a player who wears his heart on his sleeve. His passion, energy, and hunger for victory are the very traits that make him one of the most feared strikers in world football. But as Ertem Şener rightly pointed out, greatness in football isn’t just about skill—it’s also about mental balance.

Top stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and even Kylian Mbappé have long relied on mental coaches and mentors to help them handle fame, criticism, and the relentless pressure of top-level football. For Osimhen, whose rise has been meteoric and emotionally charged, a mentor could provide that calm voice that helps him channel his intensity positively.

It’s also encouraging to hear that Galatasaray’s management confirmed he’s in perfect health. Osimhen’s spirit and fitness are vital not only for his club but also for Nigeria’s World Cup hopes.

At 25, he still has many years of brilliance ahead — but maintaining that brilliance will depend on how well he balances his mind with his muscle. A strong mentor might just be the key to unlocking the next level of the Osimhen we all admire.
