Galatasaray Begin Search for Long-Term Successor to Victor Osimhen Amid Transfer Uncertainty
Galatasaray have reportedly begun planning for life beyond striker Victor Osimhen, as uncertainty continues over his long-term future at the club.
This was revealed by Turkish sports commentator Ibrahim Seten during an appearance on the 343 Digital YouTube channel, where he discussed ongoing transfer discussions at the newly crowned Turkish champions.
According to Seten, the club is actively searching for a younger forward who can either complement Osimhen in attack or eventually replace him when he departs.
“Galatasaray is looking for a young player who can fill Osimhen’s shoes when he’s not there, but also who can play alongside Osimhen… like a younger version of Batshuayi,” he said.
The comments come just days after Osimhen played a key role in helping Galatasaray secure the Turkish Super Lig title, further strengthening his reputation as one of the most influential strikers in the league.
Despite his impact, the Nigerian forward has recently been linked with a potential summer exit, sparking early transfer planning from the club.
Opinion: Galatasaray’s Planning Shows Osimhen’s Value—And Their Fear of Losing Him
The fact that Galatasaray are already discussing a “replacement plan” for Victor Osimhen says a lot about his importance to the team.
Top clubs rarely start succession talks so early unless a player is either irreplaceable—or expected to attract serious transfer interest. In Osimhen’s case, it appears to be both.
His goals have not only delivered trophies but also reshaped Galatasaray’s attacking identity, making him central to their current dominance in the Turkish Super Lig.
However, the idea of signing a “younger version” of a striker like Osimhen is easier said than done. Players of his profile—powerful, clinical, and consistent—are rare and expensive in today’s market.
From a strategic point of view, Galatasaray’s approach is smart. But it also quietly confirms a reality: replacing Osimhen won’t just be a transfer decision—it will be a rebuild.
