Nollywood Mourns as Acclaimed Director Dimbo Atiya Dies

The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of renowned Nollywood movie director Dimbo Atiya.

The filmmaker reportedly passed away on Thursday morning, with the sad news announced by the founder of the Best of Nollywood Awards (BON), Seun Oloketuyi, through a social media post.

“Dimba Atiya is dead. The top Nollywood director passed on this morning. Details later,” Oloketuyi wrote.

Actor Mofe Duncan also expressed shock and sadness over the loss, describing Atiya as one of the greatest minds in the entertainment industry.

“God no, not Dimbo. I’m devastated. One of the greatest minds of the entertainment industry,” Duncan wrote while sharing the late director’s picture.

As of the time of reporting, the cause of Atiya’s death remains unknown. His passing comes shortly after the death of Nollywood actress Tope Osoba, adding to a difficult period for the Nigerian entertainment industry.
