Gbemi Olateru: “To Get Rich and Famous Fast in Nigeria, You Must Abandon Morals”
Popular On-Air Personality (OAP), Gbemi Olateru, has stirred a conversation on social media after claiming that fast success in Nigeria often requires losing morals, shame, and home training.
Taking to her X (formerly Twitter) handle, Gbemi questioned her followers about the type of success they desire, suggesting that many people who attain quick wealth and fame do so by compromising their values.
"If you want to be rich and famous quickly in this country, you have to lose your home training/shame/morals. Is that the kind you want, though?" she wrote.
Her statement comes amid the ongoing Burna Boy-Sophia Egbueje "sex-for-Lamborghini" scandal, where the socialite accused the singer of failing to fulfill his promise of buying her a Lamborghini after a one-night stand.
Opinion: The Price of Success—Morals or Hustle?
Gbemi’s comment raises an important debate: Is compromising values truly the fastest way to success in Nigeria? While some might argue that cutting corners, clout-chasing, or engaging in controversial acts speeds up fame, many successful individuals have built their wealth through hard work, persistence, and integrity.
However, in an era dominated by social media trends, viral scandals, and controversial influencers, it’s easy to see why many believe that "shock value" and "moral flexibility" open doors faster than traditional hard work.
So, what do you think? Do people truly have to lose their morals to become successful quickly in Nigeria? Or is there still hope for hard work, dignity, and patience to pay off? Share your thoughts! 💬👇
