Aghahowa Backs Super Eagles to Overcome Rwanda in Must-Win Clash

Aghahowa Backs Super Eagles to Overcome Rwanda in Must-Win Clash

Former Nigerian international Julius Aghahowa has thrown his weight behind the Super Eagles, expressing confidence in their ability to defeat the Amavubi of Rwanda in their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier. With just three points from four matches, Nigeria is in dire need of a victory to revive their hopes of making it to the global tournament.

The Super Eagles have struggled in Group C, failing to secure a win so far, with three draws and a painful defeat denting their campaign. Their last encounter with Rwanda ended in a disappointing 2-1 loss during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo, leaving fans frustrated and concerned about the team’s direction.

However, Aghahowa believes Nigeria can turn the tide if they approach the game with the right mindset.

“I am confident if they go into the game with the right mentality, they will win in Rwanda,” the former Super Eagles striker told SCORENigeria.

“The boys are on top form, their talent is never in doubt, but they have to work on their mentality when they play for the country.

“Some of them see playing for the Super Eagles as a holiday, but if they give 120% for Nigeria, we will get the result we need.”

Mentality Over Talent: The Super Eagles' Biggest Hurdle

Aghahowa’s words ring true. Nigeria has never lacked talented players; in fact, the squad is stacked with stars playing in top European leagues. But talent alone does not win games—mentality, discipline, and a hunger for victory do.

The Super Eagles must shake off their recent struggles and approach the Rwanda game with the urgency it demands. This is not just another qualifier; it is a battle to keep Nigeria’s World Cup hopes alive.

The players must realize that wearing the green and white jersey comes with responsibility. Fans expect more than just flashes of brilliance—they demand commitment, passion, and a relentless drive to win.

With Aghahowa’s backing and the right approach, Nigeria has what it takes to claim victory. But will the Super Eagles rise to the occasion, or will history repeat itself? The answer lies in their performance on matchday.

Over to you, Super Eagles—prove the doubters wrong! 🦅🇳🇬
