Odumodublvck Reacts After Being Cut Off Mid-Speech at Headies: “I Was Talking About Jesus”

Popular Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has sparked major conversations online following his controversial moment on stage at the 17th Headies Awards, where he claims he was deliberately cut off for talking about Jesus Christ.

A now-viral video shows the rapper refusing to leave the stage, causing visible tension as production attempted to usher him off. According to the rapper, the interruption wasn’t due to timing but rather his message about faith.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Odumodublvck boldly stated:

“I WAS TALKING ABOUT JESUS AND THEY TRIED TO SHUT ME DOWN. I AM HUNDRED PERCENT SURE THAT IF I WAS TALKING ABOUT HIS EXCELLENCY GOVERNOR BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN CUT OFF...”

Despite the momentary shutdown, he expressed gratitude that the organizers eventually allowed him to finish:

“I GENUINELY HAVE NO BAD BLOOD TOWARDS THE HEADIES, RATHER, I AM GRATEFUL THEY PUT MY MIC BACK ON TO SPREAD THE GOSPEL.”

He ended his tweet with a strong affirmation of faith:
“JESUS IS KING. HE IS BEFORE NOW AND FOREVER. INDUSTRY MACHINE.”

✍️ Opinion: Should Faith Have a Place on the Big Stage?

Odumodublvck’s experience has opened the floor to a deeper discussion about freedom of speech and religious expression in entertainment spaces.

While award shows often set time limits to keep programs on track, one can’t help but wonder: Would he have been silenced if he was giving a shout-out to a governor, a brand sponsor, or a pop culture icon? In a society where faith plays a central role in many people’s lives, shouldn’t artists be given the same freedom to acknowledge their beliefs as they are their affiliations?

This wasn’t just about a stage—it was about a message, and Odumodublvck chose to use his voice, however brief, to spread something deeper than fame: faith.

🔥 What This Means for the Industry

Whether one agrees or not with his stance, it’s clear Odumodublvck has struck a chord. In an industry often dominated by trends and glamour, his bold declaration reminds us that authenticity still matters, and sometimes, speaking your truth comes with resistance.

This moment may go down as one of the boldest faith-based statements at a Nigerian award show, challenging how the entertainment industry balances freedom of expression with production control.
