CAF Names Nigeria’s Kparobo Arierhi Among Rising Stars to Watch at 2025 U-20 AFCON

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles are heading to Egypt for the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, and all eyes will be on 18-year-old striker Kparobo Arierhi, who has just been named by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as one of the tournament’s rising stars.

Arierhi is already being touted as Nigeria’s key attacking threat, and for good reason. The Lillestrøm (Norway) forward made headlines during the WAFU B U-20 Championship in Lomé, Togo, where he netted three goals — including a memorable brace in the final against arch-rivals Ghana.

His recent form shows he’s just getting started. In Nigeria’s pre-tournament friendlies, Arierhi scored against both Moraks FC and Egypt, further solidifying his status as a top talent to watch in the competition.

The Flying Eagles, coached by Aliyu Zubairu, are drawn into a challenging Group B, where they’ll face Tunisia, Kenya, and Morocco. Nigeria's first match is set for Thursday at the June 30 Stadium in Cairo, with kickoff scheduled for 4 p.m. Nigerian time.

Our Take:
CAF’s spotlight on Arierhi is not just hype — it’s a reflection of a new generation of Nigerian footballers ready to make their mark. Kparobo plays with grit, flair, and a natural eye for goal. If he finds his rhythm in Egypt, Nigeria could be on their way to reclaiming U-20 glory.

This tournament is more than just football — it’s about future stars rising, and Kparobo is already shining. The Flying Eagles are not just participating — they’re aiming to conquer.
