"Drogba in the Middle": Turkish Pundit Slams Chelsea Legend Over Osimhen Transfer Influence

"Drogba in the Middle": Turkish Pundit Slams Chelsea Legend Over Osimhen Transfer Influence

Turkish football analyst Ugur Karakullukçu has sparked intense debate after accusing Chelsea icon Didier Drogba of attempting to “seduce” Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen into joining Chelsea this summer, rather than remaining at Galatasaray — the club where Osimhen thrived last season.

Osimhen, fresh off a stellar loan campaign at Galatasaray which saw him lift both the Turkish Süper Lig and Turkish Cup, has become one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe. With clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, Juventus, and Galatasaray vying for his signature, speculation about his next move is heating up — and so is the controversy.

🔥 “Shame on You, Drogba,” Says Karakullukçu

In a pointed critique on his YouTube channel (as cited by Turkish outlet Habersarikirmizi), Karakullukçu didn’t hold back:

“Didier Drogba wants Osimhen to play for Chelsea. Drogba also wants to spoil the deal… If you are going to seduce Osimhen and take him to Chelsea, shame on you.”

Karakullukçu even went so far as to say Drogba has fallen out of favour with Galatasaray supporters due to his past comments about José Mourinho and would “never be valued as much as Mario Jardel or Mauro Icardi.”

Osimhen’s Idol vs. His Future

The Nigerian striker has often spoken openly about how Didier Drogba was his football idol growing up, making the Chelsea-Galatasaray tug-of-war even more emotional. It’s not just about money or silverware anymore — it’s about influence, legacy, and loyalty.

And that’s what’s rubbing Galatasaray fans the wrong way. After the love and support Osimhen received in Turkey, many feel it's only fair that he considers staying — and not be swayed by football politics or celebrity lobbying.

💭 Opinion: Loyalty, Influence, or Personal Destiny?

It’s easy to point fingers at Drogba — a man who’s earned the right to advise up-and-coming African stars. But we must ask: Is Drogba really wrong to recommend a path that worked for him?

On the flip side, one can’t dismiss Galatasaray’s sentiment either. They gave Osimhen a platform when his Napoli future was in limbo — and now it feels like the club is being bypassed for the glitz and glamour of a Premier League comeback.

Ultimately, the power lies with Osimhen. And whether he chooses Stamford Bridge or Istanbul, what matters most is that the decision is his, and not a product of peer pressure, PR, or punditry.

💬 What do you think — is Drogba wrong to play mentor or is Karakullukçu overreacting? Should Osimhen return to Galatasaray out of gratitude, or chase Premier League glory like his idol? Drop your thoughts below 👇
