Remo Stars Sign Malian Duo Coulibaly and Goïta on Two-Year Deals
Reigning Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, Remo Stars, have strengthened their squad with the acquisition of Malian duo Chaka Coulibaly and Adama Goïta, TalkTalk Nigeria reports.
Both players signed two-year contracts with the Sky Blue Stars ahead of the new season.
Coulibaly, a dynamic midfielder, joins from Association Sportive Binga FC of Mali, while striker Adama Goïta arrives on a free transfer after leaving AS Bakary Djan, where he netted 14 goals last season.
Remo Stars, who lifted their first-ever NPFL title last season, will begin their 2025/26 campaign with a home clash against Rivers United on Friday in Ikenne.
Opinion
For Remo Stars, these signings are more than just squad additions—they are statements of intent. Fresh off their historic NPFL triumph, the club is making it clear that they are not content with being one-season wonders. By tapping into Mali’s talent pool, they are widening their scouting reach and adding international flavour to their squad.
Goïta, in particular, will be one to watch. A striker with a proven scoring record, he could bring the extra firepower Remo Stars need to compete not only domestically but also in continental football. Coulibaly, on the other hand, adds midfield depth and balance, qualities that will be crucial as the team juggles league commitments and CAF competitions.
What’s most exciting is that these moves reflect Remo Stars’ evolution into a forward-thinking club, willing to invest smartly and blend local and international talent. Nigerian football has long needed teams that operate with this level of ambition and structure.
The big question is whether these new signings can adapt quickly to the intensity of the NPFL. If they do, Remo Stars could very well be on their way to building a dynasty, not just a fairytale.
After conquering Nigeria, the Sky Blue Stars now have a chance to prove that their shine can light up Africa as well.
