Osimhen Returns to Galatasaray Squad Ahead of Alanyaspor Clash
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has been named in Galatasaray’s 22-man squad for their Turkish Super Lig encounter against Alanyaspor on Friday, DAILY POST reports.
Osimhen, 26, has missed the club’s last three fixtures across all competitions after sustaining an ankle injury while on international duty with the Super Eagles.
The former Napoli forward is, however, expected to make his return cautiously, likely starting the game from the bench.
Before his injury setback, Osimhen had already made his mark, scoring two goals in three league appearances for the Yellow and Reds this season. Galatasaray, meanwhile, head into the fixture in excellent form, boasting a 100% record in the league after six consecutive wins.
Opinion:
Osimhen’s return is more than just good news for Galatasaray—it’s a boost for Turkish football as a whole. The Super Lig thrives on star power, and few players bring as much energy, charisma, and raw talent as the Nigerian forward.
That said, it’s also a delicate balancing act. Osimhen’s fiery determination—often willing to play “through the pain”—is admirable, but both club and country will need to manage him wisely. With Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers around the corner, and Galatasaray juggling domestic ambitions with European commitments, his fitness will be key.
If handled carefully, Osimhen could prove to be the difference-maker this season, a player capable of turning tight games into decisive victories. For now, fans will simply be glad to see him back in the squad, even if it’s just from the bench. His presence alone is enough to send a message: Galatasaray’s attack is about to get even more dangerous.
