Plateau United Close In on Ojukwu, Danbani Ahead of NPFL Second Stanza

Plateau United Close In on Ojukwu, Danbani Ahead of NPFL Second Stanza

Plateau United are edging closer to strengthening their squad ahead of the second stanza of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, with Ifegwu Ojukwu and Alao Danbani both on the verge of completing moves to the Jos-based club.

Reports indicate that the duo have already held talks with the Peace Boys as discussions over personal terms and final details progress. Ojukwu brings with him some international exposure, having previously plied his trade with Bangladeshi outfit Fortis FC, while Danbani arrives with solid NPFL experience after featuring for Enyimba in the first half of the season.

Danbani made seven appearances for the People’s Elephant during the first round of the campaign, gaining valuable top-flight minutes before the proposed switch. Plateau United are expected to make a final call on both signings before the transfer window officially closes.

Meanwhile, the Peace Boys will shift focus to on-field matters as they face Abia Warriors on Wednesday at the Umuahia Township Stadium in what promises to be a keenly contested league fixture.

Opinion & Insight

For Plateau United, these potential signings look like a calculated attempt to inject freshness and depth into the squad at a critical point of the season. Ojukwu’s experience outside Nigeria could add a different tactical dimension, while Danbani’s familiarity with the NPFL and a club of Enyimba’s stature suggests he can quickly adapt to the demands at Plateau United.

As the second stanza approaches, fine margins often decide league positions, and smart recruitment can be the difference between mid-table comfort and a genuine push up the standings. If completed, these moves may not grab flashy headlines, but they could prove to be shrewd additions that quietly strengthen Plateau United’s ambitions in the months ahead.
