Ndidi Offered to Manchester United as Midfield Reinforcement Option

Ndidi Offered to Manchester United as Midfield Reinforcement Option

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has been offered to Manchester United as the club explores options to strengthen its midfield during the January transfer window.

Ndidi only moved to Turkish giants Beşiktaş last summer, bringing an end to his eight-year stay in England with Leicester City, where he featured prominently in both the Premier League and the Championship. Despite settling well in Turkey, the Nigerian international is already being linked with a return to English football.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano confirmed that Ndidi’s name has been put forward to the Red Devils as a possible short-term solution.

“One player that has been offered to Manchester United is Wilfred Ndidi,” Romano said.
“A former Leicester City midfielder who is now playing in Turkey is being considered as a possible signing for the January transfer window in the midfield.”

Romano added that while Manchester United are aware of the opportunity, no official bid or approach has been made so far. However, Ndidi is reportedly open and eager to return to the Premier League, and would be willing to accept the terms required to make the move happen.

The 28-year-old has been a key figure for Beşiktaş this season, making 14 league starts and scoring once, underlining his continued relevance at a high level. With less than two weeks left in the winter window, Ndidi is understood to be keen on rejoining a more competitive league.

Opinion: A Sensible, Low-Risk Option United Should Consider

For Manchester United, this feels like one of those quietly sensible opportunities that often get overlooked in favour of flashier names. Ndidi may not dominate headlines, but his profile fits a very real need at Old Trafford: defensive discipline, ball recovery and tactical awareness.

United have struggled for balance in midfield this season, especially when protecting the back four. Ndidi’s strength has always been his ability to read the game, break up play and allow creative players ahead of him to flourish — a role he performed excellently during his Leicester City years.

While questions may arise about his recent move to Turkey, Ndidi’s Premier League pedigree is unquestionable. He knows the league, the intensity, and the expectations. For a club seeking stability rather than experimentation, that experience could be invaluable.

That said, whether United act may depend on finances, squad planning, and long-term vision. But as a short-term reinforcement with proven quality, Ndidi represents a smart option — one that could quietly make United harder to play against in the second half of the season.

If the Red Devils are serious about fixing their midfield issues, this might be an opportunity worth more than just a passing glance.
