Harry Amass Joins Norwich City on Loan from Manchester United

Harry Amass Joins Norwich City on Loan from Manchester United

Manchester United have confirmed that young defender Harry Amass has joined Norwich City on loan for the remainder of the season.

The Red Devils announced the development in a statement published on their official website on Saturday, just ahead of their Premier League clash with Arsenal on Sunday. Amass, who had only recently returned from a previous loan spell earlier this month, is now set for another temporary switch—this time to the Championship, where he will turn out for the Canaries at Carrow Road.

The 18-year-old left-back is a highly regarded product of Manchester United’s academy system. He is the club’s 253rd Academy graduate and made his senior debut against Leicester City on his 18th birthday in March 2025. Last season, Amass was also honoured with the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award, having made six appearances for the first team.

In their statement, United wished the teenager well, saying:
“Everyone at United would like to wish Harry all the best in his time at Carrow Road.”

Opinion: A Smart Move for a Promising Talent

For Harry Amass, this loan move feels like the right step at the right time. At 18, regular football is far more valuable than sporadic appearances on the bench at Old Trafford. The Championship is a demanding, physical league, and if Amass can hold his own there, it will only accelerate his development.

From Manchester United’s perspective, this decision also shows a growing willingness to trust the loan system as a pathway for academy talents rather than rushing them into a crowded first team. Norwich, with their emphasis on young players and attacking full-backs, could be an ideal environment for Amass to sharpen his defensive discipline and attacking instincts.

If he impresses at Carrow Road, United may well be welcoming back a more mature, battle-ready defender—one better prepared to compete for a long-term role at the Theatre of Dreams.
