Real Zaragoza Sign Nigerian Striker William Agada on Free Transfer

Real Zaragoza Sign Nigerian Striker William Agada on Free Transfer

Spanish Segunda División side Real Zaragoza have officially announced the signing of Nigerian striker William Agada on a free transfer, strengthening their attacking options ahead of the new season.

Agada has penned a contract with Los Maños that will keep him at the club until June 2026, marking a new chapter in his growing European journey.

The 26-year-old forward becomes the third Nigerian player to wear the famous Zaragoza colours, following in the footsteps of Ikechukwu Uche and James Igbekeme, both of whom left positive impressions during their time at the club.

Before the move, Agada featured for Major League Soccer (MLS) side Real Salt Lake, where he scored two goals in 14 league appearances. While his time in the MLS was relatively brief, it added valuable experience to a career that has largely been shaped in Turkey, where he spent the majority of his professional years.

Agada began his football journey in Nigeria with Mighty Jets, steadily working his way up through determination and consistency before earning opportunities abroad.

Opinion: A Fresh Chance to Prove His Worth

William Agada’s move to Real Zaragoza feels like a quiet but smart signing—the kind that doesn’t make loud headlines immediately but could pay off handsomely with time. At 26, he is entering his prime years, and the Spanish Segunda División offers the perfect platform to rediscover form, confidence, and rhythm.

For Zaragoza, this is a low-risk, high-reward deal. A free transfer striker with international experience and a hunger to prove himself can be a real asset, especially in a league where physicality, work rate, and tactical discipline matter.

For Nigerian football fans, Agada’s move is another reminder that not every success story starts with hype. Some careers are built quietly, step by step, across different leagues and cultures. If he settles well and finds his scoring boots in Spain, this could be the breakthrough moment that pushes him into wider recognition.

All eyes will now be on Agada to see if he can turn this opportunity into a defining chapter of his career—and perhaps write his own memorable Nigerian story at Real Zaragoza. ⚽🇳🇬
