Osimhen Staying Put? Galatasaray Insider Dismisses Exit Rumours Amid European Interest

Osimhen Staying Put? Galatasaray Insider Dismisses Exit Rumours Amid European Interest

Speculation surrounding the future of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has taken a new turn after a prominent Turkish insider moved to calm growing transfer rumours linking him away from Galatasaray.

Club insider Arda Özkurt revealed that the Turkish champions have no intention of selling the Super Eagles forward despite heavy interest from top European sides. According to him, Galatasaray’s hierarchy confirmed that no official bids have been received and that the club plans to keep the striker, who is tied to a long-term deal running until June 2029.

Osimhen’s impressive performances since making his move permanent — scoring 15 goals in 21 appearances across competitions this season — have naturally attracted attention. Spanish giants Barcelona are reportedly monitoring him as a potential successor to veteran striker Robert Lewandowski, while Atlético Madrid have also been linked with the Nigerian international.

However, Özkurt insists much of the speculation is unfounded, stressing that both the player and the club remain committed to the project in Istanbul. He added that sources close to Galatasaray described the rumours as misleading, emphasizing that Osimhen has no immediate plans to leave.

Reading Between the Lines: Stability or Strategic Silence?

From a neutral perspective, Galatasaray’s stance is not surprising. Osimhen is currently one of the most marketable and productive forwards in Turkish football, and losing him after just securing a long-term deal would send the wrong message about the club’s ambitions.

At the same time, football fans know that transfer windows thrive on uncertainty. Clubs often deny negotiations publicly while quietly assessing options behind the scenes. For supporters of the Nigeria national football team, the bigger question may be whether staying in Turkey continues to offer the competitive exposure Osimhen needs at this stage of his career.

There’s also a strong argument that stability could benefit him more than another quick move. After several seasons of constant transfer drama, remaining at Galatasaray might allow the striker to build consistency, leadership, and legacy — something many Nigerian greats achieved by becoming symbols at their clubs rather than frequent travellers.

Why Fans Are Divided

Among Nigerian football followers, opinions are likely to split. Some will see links to Barcelona or Atlético Madrid as a natural progression for a striker of his quality. Others may appreciate Galatasaray’s faith in him and believe he can dominate where he is, especially if the club continues to compete in Europe.

Ultimately, whether the rumours fade or grow louder, one thing is clear — Osimhen’s form keeps him firmly at the centre of European football conversations. And as long as he continues scoring at this rate, speculation will remain part of his story, no matter how strongly the club shuts it down.
