Henry Urges Barcelona to Sign Osimhen, Kane or Haaland to Solve Striker Problem

Former Arsenal captain Thierry Henry has named Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen among the elite strikers FC Barcelona should target to strengthen their attack.

Osimhen, who currently plays for Galatasaray, has continued his impressive form since completing a permanent move to the Turkish giants last summer. The 27-year-old helped the club secure a domestic double last season and has maintained strong numbers this campaign, recording 15 goals and five assists in 23 appearances across all competitions.

Speaking to Sport, Henry stressed that Barcelona must recruit a proven goal scorer rather than a developing talent, mentioning Osimhen alongside Erling Haaland and Harry Kane as ideal options.

According to the French legend, Barcelona’s creative talents — particularly teenage sensation Lamine Yamal — require a clinical finisher ahead of them to convert chances consistently at the highest level.

“Barcelona need a real number 9. A top-level striker,” Henry said.
“I am referring to formidable scorers such as Victor Osimhen, Erling Haaland or Harry Kane. Proven finishers, not prospects.”

Opinion: Osimhen to Barcelona Would Be a Perfect Football Match

Henry’s suggestion is not just logical — it highlights a genuine tactical need. Barcelona have creativity, pace, and technical brilliance in wide areas, but what they sometimes lack is a ruthless penalty-box striker who thrives on limited chances. Osimhen fits that profile almost perfectly.

Beyond goals, Osimhen brings intensity, aerial dominance, and relentless pressing — qualities that align well with Barcelona’s evolving playing style under modern football demands. Financially, however, signing him could be complicated, especially with Barcelona’s ongoing economic balancing act.

From a Nigerian perspective, a move to Barcelona would also be monumental. It would further cement Osimhen’s status among Africa’s greatest forwards and inspire a new generation of footballers across the continent.

In truth, whether Barcelona choose Osimhen, Kane, or Haaland, Henry’s core message remains clear: elite teams win trophies with elite finishers. And if Barcelona want to return fully to Europe’s summit, a world-class number 9 is no longer optional — it is essential.
