Barcelona Reportedly Target Victor Osimhen and Erling Haaland as Long-Term Replacements for Lewandowski

Spanish giants Barcelona are reportedly setting their sights on two of world football’s most formidable strikers — Victor Osimhen of Galatasaray and Erling Haaland of Manchester City — as potential successors to veteran forward Robert Lewandowski.

The revelation was made by Now Spor commentator Erbatur Ergenekon, who disclosed that Barcelona’s transfer strategy for 2025 includes the acquisition of a marquee number 9 capable of defining the club’s next attacking era.

Barcelona are reportedly exploring options to refresh their frontline as Lewandowski’s contract runs until 2026, but his age (36 by then) has prompted the club to plan for a new focal point in attack.

“Last season, if they had asked me to make a transfer to Barcelona, I would have said a centre-back,” Ergenekon said, as quoted by Habersarikirmizi.

“A similar process is ongoing. Now we can add a centre-forward to that list.
The names of Osimhen and Haaland are being mentioned for the transfer of a number 9 in Barcelona.
They will allocate a significant amount of money for the centre-forward position.”

Opinion:

Barcelona’s rumored interest in Victor Osimhen and Erling Haaland shows one thing clearly — the Catalan club is dreaming big again.

On paper, these are blockbuster names — players whose presence alone guarantees goals, global attention, and fear in opposing defences. But beneath the surface, this speculation raises some interesting realities about Barcelona’s financial and sporting direction.

Osimhen, who has been on fire at Galatasaray, offers a profile that fits Barcelona’s new-age energy — explosive pace, relentless pressing, and an African grit that could electrify the Camp Nou. He’s also more realistic financially than Haaland, whose Manchester City contract and astronomical valuation make him nearly untouchable.

Still, it’s the symbolism that matters here. Barcelona seem intent on finding their next “franchise striker” — someone who can bridge the post-Lewandowski era much like Eto’o and Suarez once did for previous generations.

If such a move ever materializes, Osimhen’s potential arrival could represent more than just a transfer; it would mark a statement of resurgence — that Barça, despite years of turmoil, still dares to chase the very best.

But for now, fans should temper their excitement. Dreams of Osimhen and Haaland in the Blaugrana shirt may be thrilling — yet until Barcelona’s financial puzzle is solved, they remain exactly that: dreams worth watching.
