Vee Iye Criticizes Seyi Law Over Comments on Nigeria’s Security Situation

Reality star Vee Iye has taken a swipe at comedian Seyi Law, calling him a “desensitized Nigerian” focused only on personal gain, following the comedian’s remarks on the state of security in the country.

Seyi Law made the comments during an episode of the Honest Bunch podcast when asked if Nigeria is safer now compared to 10 years ago. The comedian argued that kidnappings and insecurity predate the current administration of President Bola Tinubu, and claimed that the country is now comparatively safer.

“Nigeria is safer now than 10 years ago. This government has killed more bandits since Jonathan’s. When have you last heard of a bomb blast? It is not today that they have been kidnapping people in their houses,” Seyi Law stated.

Vee reacted sharply on social media, writing: “‘It’s not today that they have been kidnapping people in their house’—a perfect example of a desensitized Nigerian citizen who can’t see past his own pockets.”

Opinion: Vee’s criticism touches on a broader frustration many Nigerians feel—while national statistics may suggest improvements, the lived realities of citizens often tell a different story. Her response reflects a growing impatience with public figures who appear to downplay the hardships ordinary Nigerians face daily.

This exchange highlights a tension in public discourse: the contrast between perception and experience. For many, insecurity remains a pressing issue, and voices like Vee’s serve as an important reminder that progress should be measured not just in numbers, but in how safe and secure people feel in their homes and communities.
