Timini Egbuson Opens Up on Career, Grief, and Life Lessons for 2026
Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has shared candid reflections on his career, personal loss, and love life in a recent interview with media personality JayonAir. Speaking on Tuesday, Egbuson said he believes he changed the image of actors in Nollywood by introducing confidence, charisma, and a new swagger to the industry.
“There was a certain way actors were back in the day, but then I came and made it look cool. I was a cool guy before Nollywood. I brought confidence and jealousy. Whether they admit it or not, everybody is using my playbook,” he said.
However, the 38-year-old actor revealed that his optimism for 2026 was tempered by grief, after losing his father on January 1 — his first experience losing a close family member. Egbuson admitted the loss was particularly painful because he and his father did not share the best relationship, saying, “That was one thing I wanted to work on in 2026. I prioritised work so much that I should have been more available.”
Reflecting on past relationships, Egbuson confessed that a former love still weighs on him, describing her as a soulmate whose presence he regrets not valuing enough. He also stressed that the experience taught him money is not everything, saying, “Money is just one out of many things that matter.” Looking ahead, he shared his commitment to prioritising his future family: “She’ll be priority. She is. She’ll be priority.”
Opinion:
Timini’s honesty provides a glimpse into the often-unseen emotional side of actors, reminding fans that fame does not shield anyone from personal struggles. His reflections on grief and relationships also highlight an important life lesson: presence and connection matter more than wealth or success.
Moreover, his acknowledgment of mistakes and willingness to learn signals maturity, both personally and professionally. For young actors and fans alike, Timini’s story is a reminder that growth often comes through loss, reflection, and making deliberate choices to value what truly matters in life.
