Osimhen’s Absence Hits Galatasaray Hard as Title Race Tightens

Osimhen’s Absence Hits Galatasaray Hard as Title Race Tightens

Turkish football analyst Mustafa Denizli has highlighted the immense influence of Victor Osimhen on both Galatasaray and the wider Turkish Super Lig, amid the striker’s ongoing injury layoff.

Osimhen is currently undergoing rehabilitation after surgery on an injury sustained during Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool at Anfield last month.

Since his absence, Galatasaray have struggled for consistency, dropping points in two of their last three matches and managing just four points from a possible nine. Although they remain top of the table, their lead has been cut to just two points, with Fenerbahçe closing in and Trabzonspor still in contention.

With only five games left in the season, the pressure is mounting on the reigning champions.

Denizli stressed that Osimhen’s importance extends beyond goals, noting that his presence lifts the overall performance of the team.

“Osimhen is a crucial player not only for Galatasaray but for the entire league… his absence affects everyone around him,” he said.

Galatasaray’s medical team are now racing against time to get the Nigerian forward fit ahead of a potentially decisive clash against rivals Fenerbahçe on April 26.

🧠 Opinion: Osimhen’s Value Goes Beyond Goals — And Galatasaray Are Feeling It

Victor Osimhen’s impact is now being felt most clearly in his absence.

It’s easy to measure a striker by goals, but Osimhen offers much more — movement, pressing, physical presence, and the ability to create space for others. When a player like that is missing, the entire attacking system can lose its balance.

Galatasaray’s recent dip in form is no coincidence. Without Osimhen, the team looks less threatening and less confident. Opponents are also more comfortable pushing forward, knowing the biggest danger is not on the pitch.

What makes this situation more intense is the timing. With the title race tightening and a crucial derby against Fenerbahçe approaching, every match now carries massive weight.

If Osimhen returns in time, it could be a game-changer — not just for Galatasaray, but for the entire title race. If not, the team will need to find a new way to win without relying on their biggest star.

In football, some players are important. Others are irreplaceable.

Right now, Osimhen looks like the latter.
