VeryDarkMan Commends FCT Police for Assisting Mentally Unstable Woman Deliver Baby in Kwali

Popular Nigerian social media critic VeryDarkMan has praised officers of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command for their swift and humane response in helping a mentally unstable woman safely deliver a baby in Kwali Area Council.

According to his account shared on Instagram, the incident occurred in the early hours of April 3, 2026, during a routine patrol by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), which had been deployed across the FCT ahead of the Easter celebrations.

At about 12:20 a.m., officers on patrol around Kwaita village reportedly heard distressing cries from the roadside and immediately moved to investigate. Upon arrival, they discovered a mentally unstable woman in active labour.

The Nigeria Police Force later confirmed the incident, stating that a report was formally received around 12:30 a.m., prompting immediate action.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, revealed that the Officer-in-Charge of the Gender Unit at Kwali Division quickly mobilised a response team to the scene. The officers assisted the woman through the delivery process, ensuring both mother and child were safe.

Reacting to the development, VeryDarkMan applauded the officers for their compassion and professionalism, describing their actions as commendable. He also pledged to sponsor the child’s education from primary school through university.

Opinion: A Rare Moment That Reminds Us What Policing Should Look Like

In a country where stories about law enforcement often lean towards controversy, this incident offers a refreshing and powerful contrast.

The actions of the FCT police officers go beyond duty—they reflect empathy, quick thinking, and genuine humanity. At a time when trust between citizens and law enforcement can be fragile, moments like this help rebuild confidence and show that policing is not just about enforcement, but also about service and care.

VeryDarkMan’s reaction is equally significant. Known for his critical stance on societal issues, his willingness to publicly commend the police—and even take personal responsibility for the child’s future—adds depth to the story. It highlights the role influencers can play in not just pointing out problems, but also amplifying good deeds and inspiring others.

However, this situation also brings attention to a deeper issue: the vulnerability of mentally unstable individuals in society. That a woman in such a condition was left alone to go into labour on the roadside raises concerns about social support systems and mental health care.

While the police deserve praise, this should also serve as a wake-up call. Acts of kindness in emergencies are important, but preventing such situations in the first place is even more critical.

In the end, this story is more than just good news—it’s a reminder of what is possible when compassion meets responsibility.
