Opinion
These nominations reinforce how far Afrobeats has come in shaping global music culture. What was once a regional sound has now become a dominant force in international award circuits, with Nigerian artists consistently competing alongside global superstars.
Tems’ multiple nominations highlight her growing versatility and crossover appeal, while Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Asake continue to show the depth of talent coming out of Nigeria’s music scene.
Beyond individual recognition, this moment reflects something bigger: Afrobeats is no longer “emerging” — it is fully established as a global genre with sustained influence.
