Phyna Accuses VeryDarkMan of Manipulation and Sexual Advance Amid Ongoing Fallout Over Sister’s Case
Former Big Brother Naija winner Phyna has accused social media influencer VeryDarkMan of manipulating public opinion against her following a disagreement linked to her late sister’s case.
According to reports, the controversy stems from Phyna’s 2025 appeal to VeryDarkMan for assistance in seeking justice for her late younger sister, Ruth Otabor, who was involved in a fatal accident with a Dangote Cement truck in Edo State. His involvement initially drew public attention to the case, which later led to commitments from Dangote Cement to support the victim’s medical expenses.
However, tensions reportedly arose when VeryDarkMan withdrew from the case, claiming that Phyna engaged in separate discussions with the company behind his back—an allegation she has strongly denied.
In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) over the weekend, Phyna escalated the dispute by accusing VeryDarkMan of attempting to turn public opinion against her and sabotage her efforts to seek justice.
She further alleged that the fallout between them was personal, claiming that VeryDarkMan made sexual advances toward her, which she says she rejected. According to her, this rejection allegedly influenced how he later handled her sister’s case and public commentary.
Phyna also shared what she described as chat evidence and vowed that she would not forgive the influencer, insisting she was misrepresented in the public narrative surrounding the case.
She said:
“VeryDarkMan came out to say the opposite of what happened. I can never forgive him because he turned me into a bad person over my sister’s case… Claiming I requested N1 billion from Dangote. I was shocked because such a conversation never happened… maybe he started holding grudges against me because he said he wanted to sleep with me and I didn’t accept.”
Opinion: A Case Where Emotion, Influence, and Justice Are Colliding Online
This dispute between Phyna and VeryDarkMan reflects a growing challenge in the age of digital activism—where advocacy, personal relationships, and public perception often become deeply entangled.
At the heart of the issue is a tragic real-life case involving Phyna’s sister, which already carries emotional weight. When such sensitive matters move into the social media space, they often become more complex, as public figures and influencers shape narratives in real time.
What stands out here is how quickly a cause that began as a pursuit of justice has turned into a public war of credibility. Allegations of manipulation and personal misconduct have now overshadowed the original case, making it harder for the public to separate facts from emotion.
This situation also raises a broader concern about influencer involvement in advocacy cases. While social media pressure can help amplify justice, it can also introduce personal conflicts that risk derailing the very causes being fought for.
Ultimately, the biggest casualty in disputes like this is often the truth itself—lost between competing narratives, emotional reactions, and viral attention.
